Young slave David had the privilege of being the Duke’s personal slave. He had direct access to the most important person on the farm and he liked the power it gave him. Sometimes his friends asked him to intercede on behalf of those who otherwise had no hope of escaping the Duke’s punishment. David always refused. He liked the feeling of being better than other slaves. It became his undoing.
One day, while showing off and breaking the rules, he went too far. He had crossed the line and got caught. The young man knew his boss would be angry and that he would have to face the punishment, but he never imagined how severe it will be.
The Duke was furious. He decided to punish this insubordinate servant and ordered a severe bullwhipping.
David began to understand the miserable fate in store for him.
